The exact date of “Halloweekend” has been up for debate this year, but who really cares? This is New York City, where there’s a party every night of the week. Still looking for something to do with that extra costume? Well, Violet Chachki and Gottmik have some ideas on how to put it to good use.
Fresh off the heels of a party at Beverly Center, the diva duo is bringing their delicious Halloween party, the Deadly Doll Ball, to NYC on Wednesday, at Le Poisson Rouge. Hosted by Kandy and Xunami Muse, Ivy Getty, and with performances by Chachki and Gottmik, it’s sure to be a deadly good time. At least, if photos from their Los Angeles edition are anything to go by.
Chachki tells PAPER: “Throwing the Deadly Doll Ball at the Beverly Center was so camp. We promised a haunted maze experience, and there was one, but I think the true haunted maze experience was having all of our friends and fans lost in skimpy costumes running around the mall trying to get out at 2 AM on god knows what party cocktail.” As she sees it, there’s “nothing like a messy faggot dressed as a slutty pink flamingo lost at Prada. I want to get my hands on that CCTV footage.” Gottmik, for the record, adds that “Halloween is such a special time for me so being able to partner with my best friend and create such a major vibe is beyond a dream.”
Likewise, Gottmik says the NYC function will be “nothing short of legendary! We are bicoastal divas, so bringing this energy to NYC, and partnering with some of our favorite DJs and hosts, is going to be a vibe like NYC has never experienced before!” Having had one successful outing under their belt, Chachki hopes “the Deadly Doll Ball can hold its own in the scene and also that all of our NY friends come and have fun with us.”
What can attendees expect, besides cunt costumes and a killer collection of DJ sets? “Shows and shenanigans. Violet is going to be DJing with Shane Thomas and Makadsi and Sky Walker. House of Muse is hosting, so we’re gonna bring the glam and they’re gonna bring that NYC grit.”
